The Inten, Compliance and Risk Management:

INTERNSHIP WILL START MIDDLE OF JULY THOUGH END OF FALL SEMESTER

  • works to provide analysis and support for projects of the Compliance & Risk Management Department. 
  • activities will include learning core business functions including corporate governance, enterprise and information security risk management, and performance of compliance assessments.
  • will receive real world exposure to all technical functions of an in-house compliance and risk management program.
  • Must be able to work 20 -25 hours per week during school semester. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Essential Duties:

  • Supports and participates in all aspects of the Compliance & Risk Management Department. 
  • Activities will include:
    • learning core business functions including corporate governance, enterprise and information security risk management, and performance of compliance assessments.
    • receiving real world exposure to all technical functions of an in-house compliance and risk management program,
    • receives and provides mentoring, and,
    • networks across the organization.
  • Participates in planning activities of information technology, operational and compliance audits across the enterprise and assist with the coordination between IT and internal audit participants.
  • Participates in compliance assessments including documents evidence requests and evaluates provided evidence for adequacy to determine control compliance.
  • Participates in risk assessments including the identification of risks, evaluation of risk, and the monitoring of risk throughout the risk lifecycle.
  • Participates in governance processes including the review and update of corporate and information security policies and procedures.
  • Perform research and document logical and physical solutions that prevent, detect, and correct the system to be certified and accredited.
  • Identify security requirements to bring a system into compliance.
  • Participates in business continuity exercises including the planning, documentation, and testing of business continuity functions.
  • Participates in the implementation of the security awareness program.
  • Promotes information security awareness and monitors compliance with enterprise information security policies.
  • Plan, develop, execute, and document results of control test procedures.
  • Performs other Compliance and Risk Management team duties as assigned or requested.

Other Duties

  • In addition, the intern may also participate in initiatives related to standards & procedures reviews, 3rd party risk management coordination, and GRC platform configuration documentation.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal, team and communication skills
  • Basic understanding of business and cybersecurity principles and best practices
  • Ability to sense the importance or impact of issues and take appropriate actions.
  • Ability to manage time and priorities effectively to achieve optimal results.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to create effective procedure documents and workflow diagrams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident status required
  • Visa Sponsorship or C2C not available 

Desired:

  • Self-starter.
  • Ability to prioritize project demands.
  • Ability to ask for assistance/guidance when needed and to understand when that assistance/guidance is truly needed.

Education:

  • Junior or Seniors with a major in Accounting, Cyber Security, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Information Systems Management
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
