ROLE OVERVIEW 

The R&D Internship is intended to provide students actively enrolled in a PhD-level graduate program with the opportunity to apply their skills in real-world settings in support of ongoing Vytelle research efforts and strategic projects while gaining an appreciation for the management of R&D projects and pipeline governance in a commercial entity. Project work may be tailored to the specific interests and skillset of the successful applicant and is intended to be of appropriate scope to enable completion during the duration of the program. Candidates will work under the supervision of Vytelle R&D scientists and will be exposed to cross-functional collaborations with other Vytelle colleagues across lab and field operations, sales and marketing, information technology systems, and finance. Interns shall also be exposed to principles of pipeline governance and execution at an enterprise-level. 


For 2025, Vytelle will be prioritizing intern projects related to development of bioinformatics and imputation pipelines. The scope of assigned work will be adapted accordingly to match the experience and capabilities of the intern and current R&D priorities of the company. Applicants should have strong capabilities in data science and bioinformatics with experience managing genomic data. Experience in Python highly preferred.


REQUIREMENTS 

  • In good standing in a PhD-level graduate program at a US institution of higher learning in a relevant field (e.g., quantitative genetics, animal science, bioinformatics, reproductive biology) 
  • Sufficient technical experience to manage assigned work with an appropriate amount of supervision and coaching 
  • Eligible for employment as a intern of Vytelle; support for visas and work permits not provided 
  • Acceptable working environment for remote work or ability to secure housing if working at a Vytelle location 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English 
  • Strong PC skills including internet and Microsoft Oce suite of products

PARAMETERS 

  • Interns will not be eligible to accrue vacation time, medical benefits, or retirements savings contributions 
  • Interns shall at their discretion observe any unpaid holidays or unpaid personal subject to approval from their defined supervisor 
  • Minimum duration of the internship shall be 10 weeks; consecutive fulfillment is strongly preferred but may be adjusted with approval from the Chief Science Officer 
  • All work performed as a part of the internship must be performed utilizing Vytelle physical and technological resources and is subject to Vytelle policies on data security 
  • All work products arising during the internship shall be considered Vytelle property; to transfer of rights shall be granted to the intern 
  • Interns will be required to execute and abide by a confidentiality agreement covering all work and work experiences
