The American Immigration Council (the Council) is looking for a qualified individuals to join the Research department as a remote intern for the Summer of 2025.


The American Immigration Council’s Research Department is seeking a remote, paid Research Intern to assist in quantitative research for various projects including research reports, factsheets, data interactives, policy memos, and blog posts. Responsibilities will include, but not limited to gathering, managing, and analyzing large data sets; drafting key findings and summaries; compiling literature reviews; and fact-checking.


Individuals who are self-starters, strong communicators, curious minds, and who are eager to learn many aspects of a non-profit immigration research and advocacy organization are encouraged to apply.


Requirements

To perform successfully in this role, incumbents should possess:

  • Experience with either STATA or R, additional knowledge of Python or SQL a distinct advantage
  • Previous experience serving as a data analyst or research assistant, on a team or under the guidance of a professor
  • An understanding of how to apply quantitative data methods to policy questions
  • Experience compiling literature reviews, scoping possible datasets, cleaning data, running summary statistics, and performing analyses
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Willingness to take initiative, e.g., contacting researchers or fellow teammates with questions or to learn about new techniques
  • Knowledge of general U.S. politics and of immigration policy is preferred
