The ACLU seeks an Undergraduate or Graduate Intern, or applicant with equivalent experience, in the Technology & Analytics Department of the ACLU’s National office. This role can be either remote or hybrid based out of New York City.

 

The Team:
The Affiliate Tech Pod is part of the ACLU’s Product & Technology Department, which builds and supports innovative, robust, and secure digital tools that advance the ACLU’s mission nationwide. The Affiliate Tech Pod works closely with ACLU Affiliate offices to enhance their technical infrastructure, with a particular focus on website platforms and digital tools. As part of the ongoing Affiliate Web Platform (AWP) migration project, the team is helping over 50 ACLU Affiliates transition to a new, modernized WordPress platform. This product management role involves collaborating with Affiliates to migrate content, maintain website quality, and ensure their digital presence reflects the ACLU’s mission of protecting rights and liberties for all.


Interns on this team will have the opportunity to support real-world projects and gain hands-on experience in website quality assurance, content management, and data-driven decision-making, all while contributing to a mission-driven organization.


What You’ll Do:


As a product management intern on the Affiliate Tech Pod, you will play a key role in supporting the migration of ACLU Affiliate websites to a new WordPress platform and you will conduct detailed reviews of migrated websites to ensure content, navigation, and formatting meet quality standards. In this role you will:

  • Contribute to refining QA checklists and creating best practice resources that guide Affiliates through the migration process.
  • Assist in facilitating feedback by collaborating with Affiliates as they review their newly migrated sites and help incorporate their insights into process improvements.
  • Learn about data-driven insights by assisting with Heap data collection to monitor website performance and user journeys.


Your Day to Day

  • Perform QA checks on newly migrated Affiliate websites, verifying accuracy of content, navigation, and embedded media.
  • Track and document content issues such as broken links, formatting errors, and missing media during the migration process.
  • Collaborate with the Affiliate Tech Pod to address QA feedback from ACLU affiliates and assist in conducting post-migration reviews.
  • Refine and maintain the QA process, contributing to a standardized checklist and best practices guide for Affiliate website migrations.
  • Support the creation of resources like troubleshooting workflows, onboarding guides, and FAQs for Affiliates.
  • Learn and assist with Heap data collection and dashboard setup to track user engagement and migration outcomes.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for tracking and resolving issues.
  • Familiarity with CMS platforms like WordPress is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with teams and stakeholders.
  • A commitment to user-centered design and digital content accuracy.
  • Interest in learning about data analytics tools like Heap and their application to website performance monitoring.

Internship Logistics:

  • Location: Our internship program offers a limited number of remote or hybrid intern positions. This internship can be remote or hybrid and based in our NYC office.
  • Time Commitment: Summer internships require a full-time commitment.
  • Internship Duration: Summer internships can begin on May 27 or June 9, 2025 and are full-time, spanning 10 consecutive weeks.
  • Stipend: A stipend is available for students who are lawfully authorized to work. Arrangements can be made with educational institutions for work/study or course credit. Below are the stipend rates:
    • $20/hour for undergraduate students or equivalent experience
    • $24/hour for graduate and law students or equivalent experience
