About the Role:

In this paid internship, you will report to and assist the Chief Auditor and Director, Audit & Attest Standards of the AICPA (American Institute of CPAs) and their team with multiple projects related to professional standard setting issues. You will focus on auditing, attestation, and quality control standards being considered by the Auditing Standards Board (ASB). This role is remote-friendly. You are a current student pursuing or has completed a Master's in Accounting.

You Will:

  • Research issues being considered by the ASB, applicable regulators, and other standard setters
  • Develop slide presentations on current standard setting issues
  • Help compare proposed changes to AICPA standards to standards of the PCAOB and IAASB (International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board)
  • Collaboratively work with volunteer led task force and working group members
  • Observe ASB meetings and help prepare summaries
  • Help manage timelines, keeping current on upcoming deadlines and necessary actions
  • Help analyze comment letters sent to the ASB about active standard setting projects using technology
  • Help evaluate auditing and assurance proposals of other organizations and the related preparation of comment letters

You Have:

  • Completed course work that provides a base understanding of auditing and accounting theory and practice
  • Demonstrate an interest in all aspects of auditing and the desire to pursue a career in public accounting
  • Demonstrate an ability to organize data using technology applications (e.g. Microsoft Excel) for data analysis

The salary for this role is: $20 per hour. You will work no more than 40 hours per week from May to August 2025 (up to 15 weeks).
