The Learning and Development (L&D) team at the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) is dedicated to developing the telecommunications workforce through impactful online training. By focusing on relevant and engaging content, the team ensures learners gain the practical skills needed for their roles. Collaborating with industry experts, they design courses that address real-world challenges while applying effective adult learning principles.


As part of SCTE’s mission to strengthen the telecommunications workforce, the L&D team plays a crucial role in aligning training programs with organizational goals. Their work equips employees to adapt to technological advancements, exceed customer expectations, and drive industry innovation. By fostering professional growth and boosting productivity, the team helps SCTE remain competitive while meeting the evolving demands of the telecommunications sector.

At the end of the summer internship, individuals will have:
•    Created and supported content development.
•    Gained proficiency in course design tools and technology.
•    Developed skills in managing timelines, tasks, and deliverables for multiple training projects simultaneously.
•    Collaborated with subject matter experts to align outcomes and learner needs.
•    Offered suggestions and solutions to learning challenges based on knowledge and experiences. 
•    Presented an end-of-internship summary, highlighting lessons learned and their impact. 

 

What You'll Do

•    Work with Learning and Development team members to design and develop engaging, innovative, and effective online course materials to achieve desired learning outcomes.
•    Collaborate with team members to create new and review and revise existing learning content.
•    Create solutions that are focused on adult learning principles and various instructional design methods.
•    Ensure learner experiences are inclusive of varying learning needs and styles.  
•    Maintain and organize documentation, including course content, instructional design processes, timelines and feedback summaries.  
 

Qualifications

What Is a Must Have

  • Education: Pursuing or completing a bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Adult Learning, Instructional Technology or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with educational platforms such as Learning Management Systems and Authoring Tools.
  • Proficiency in MS Office or Google Workspace.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to simplify complex information.
  • Organizational Skills: Detail-oriented with an ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Comfortable working and collaborating in small groups.
  •  Understanding of adult learning theories.
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment.
