Thank you for your interest in joining the First3Years team as an intern! This application is for students at the undergraduate and graduate levels who are passionate about supporting our work to nurture early relational and mental health of infants and toddlers in Texas. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in your field, while making a difference in the lives of infants, toddlers, and their families.


Intern Responsibilities:


Interns at First3Years will support one or more of the program areas listed above. The specific duties may vary by program, but generally include:



  • Safe Babies: Assisting with program implementation to support infants and toddlers in foster care and their caregivers. This may involve case support, resource coordination, and contributing to child safety and well-being outcomes. Must live in Dallas, Fort Worth, or Houston.

  • Bright By Text: Supporting the promotion and implementation of this text-based parenting resource, including outreach efforts, content curation, and analyzing engagement data.

  • Professional Development/Training: Assisting in developing and delivering training modules for early childhood professionals, focusing on topics such as early relational health, trauma-informed care, and infant mental health.

  • Early Relational Health: Supporting community and caregiver engagement activities that promote strong, healthy relationships between infants, toddlers, and their caregivers. This may include helping with events, resource creation, and program evaluation.

  • Baby Day: Assisting with the planning, outreach, and execution of Baby Day, Texas’ statewide celebration dedicated to promoting healthy development in the first three years of life. Responsibilities may include logistics planning, coordinating with local partners, and supporting event activities.

  • Community Systems: Supporting cross-sector partnerships aimed at improving systems of care for infants and toddlers. This may include research, report writing, data analysis, and attending coalition meetings. Must live in Houston.

  • Marketing: Assisting with the development and execution of marketing strategies to raise awareness of First3Years' programs, events, and initiatives. Must have strong writing skills and an eye for visual design.


Qualifications:



  • Education: Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program related to child development, early childhood education, psychology, social work, public health, or a related field.

  • Skills:

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail

    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and comfortable with virtual meeting platforms

    • Interest in early childhood development and family support systems



  • Preferred:

    • Experience or coursework related to infant and toddler development, child welfare, family systems, or nonprofit marketing.

    • Multilingual abilities are a plus but not required.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis for Fall and Spring semester-long placements. Early application is encouraged as spaces are limited.
